PGT-M in dubai
What is PGT-M?
Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Monogenic Diseases or Single Gene Disorders (PGT-M) is a revolutionary procedure designed to examine embryos for specific genetic disorders before being implanted in the uterus.
This testing enables couples to make informed decisions about their embryos, reducing the risk of genetic diseases being passed on to their children.
What is Pre-implantation tissue typing (PTT)?
PTT is a kind of embryo testing that can be used to treat children with blood abnormalities such as beta thalassaemia, Fanconi’s anemia, and Diamond Blackfan anemia that have life-threatening consequences.
For children suffering from these conditions, the most effective treatment now available usually entails a stem cell transfusion from a tissue-matched donor—ideally, a close relative.
In cases when a close relative is unavailable, parents may choose to become parents again and limit their embryo selection through PTT therapy to those that precisely match the tissue of their elder sibling.
PTT is frequently referred to as the “saviour siblings” of technology because of this.
PTT is available to all eligible patients through Allahbadia IVF in collaboration with iGenomix Dubai, a scientific partner.
The PGT-M Process: A Step-by-Step Guide
After a consultation with a fertility specialist, you will be guided through the PGT-M procedure.
- A biopsy is done after the embryo has been grown in culture for approximately five days and has reached the hundreds-cell blastocyst developmental stage.
- The biopsy removes five to seven cells from the embryo's outer layer, known as the trophectoderm, without altering the inner cell mass that gives rise to the fetus. The genetic material of the embryo is analyzed.
The Benefits of Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Monogenic Disorders
The PGT-M significantly decreases the likelihood of having a child with a genetic condition.
Provides couples with crucial information about their embryos, empowering them to make informed choices.
By selecting genetically healthy embryos, the PGT-M test can improve the chances of a successful pregnancy and healthy baby.
NOTE💡: For PGT-M testing, about 600 genetic disorders have been approved. PGT-M is a crucial step in IVF. The PGT-M and PGT-SR treatments are safe; there is no confirmation that the children of these treatments have any more health or developmental issues than those born from IVF alone. See the full list of PGT-M conditions.
Why might PGT-SR and PGT-M not work?
Unfortunately, there are instances where no embryos are viable for implantation. This might occur because:
- Insufficient eggs are produced or fertilized initially.
- A little chance exists that an embryo could be harmed by removing the cells for investigation.
- The genetic defect affects each and every embryo.
